Rescue Care Paramedics were called to a serious collision on Old Main Road and Saunders Avenue in Isipingo just after 11:30 today.
On arrival paramedics found that two taxis and a car had collided in the junction. One taxi then veered off the road before crashing through a wall and coming to rest just before the train lines. Paramedics assessed the scene and found that twenty one patients had suffered various injuries. More resources were called in to assist with the number of people that were injured. Some of the injured passengers had been ejected from the taxi as it crashed through the wall. All the injured were stabilized on the scene before being transported to various Durban hospitals for further care that they required.
Traffic was severely affected as Old Main Road was closed whilst emergency personal worked to clear the scene.
