One person was killed today in a vehicle collision on the N2 close to Athlone in Cape Town.
The driver of the vehicle allegedly lost control of the car and drove the car into a canal containing very toxic water.
When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene the found that the driver has already sustained fatal injuries to the head and abdomen.
Rescue teams were also dispatched to assist in extricating the driver from the vehicle using special equipment, as the water in the canal is extremely toxic.
The cause of the incident is still unknown, however local authorities were on scene for further investigation.
