A taxi driver is in a serious condition after smashing into a concrete slab on the N1 in the Rivonia area Friday evening at around 18h00. According to eyewitnesses the taxi driver was traveling in the construction lane. A concrete slab obstructed his path and the taxi ploughed into it leaving the driver with serious lower limb injuries.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene to find the wounded man laying at the road side next to the twisted remains of his vehicle, they worked tirelessly to stabilise the man and then called for the Netcare medical helicopter to airlift him to the Charlotte Maxeke hospital in Johannesburg for further medical care.
