A Charlie 172 light aircraft crashed after attempting an emergency landing in an open veld near the residential area of South crest in Alberton this afternoon. Details to the cause of the accident remain a subject for civil aviation to examine.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene to find the Pilot and his two passengers outside the twisted frame of their plane. The pilot had sustained serious injuries while his two passengers escaped with minor injuries.
Paramedics worked fervently to stabilise the injured before transporting them to the Netcare Union hospital for further treatment.
