A housing inspector was seriously injured in a botched hijacking in KwaDabeka, north of Durban, this morning.
It is alleged that the man had been receiving directions from someone on his cellphone and had pulled to the roadside to take them down.
As he sat in his car he was approached by an unknown number of men, one of the wielding a firearm. A scuffle ensued when the men tried to pull him from his vehicle and he was shot twice, once in the stomach and again in his wrist.
He managed to flee the scene and drive himself to a KwaDabeka clinic. He was stabilised by nurses and doctors there before Netcare911 Paramedics arrived to transport him by ambulance to the Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital for further care.
