A construction worker is fighting for his life in the Netcare Linksfield Hospital after he fell several meters at a construction site in the Linksfield ridge area this morning at around 10h22. It is purported that the man in his late 20”s was standing on a scaffolding structure several meters above ground level when the floor slab and outer wall collapsed. The man and structure then plummeted several meters to the ground with disastrous results.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene and found that the worker had sustained polytraumatic injuries. They fervently worked to stabilise the critically wounded man and after deftly immobilising him on a trauma board, they transported the critically wounded worker to the Netcare Linksfield hospital for further treatment.
In another case Netcare 911 paramedics from the Moot base in Pretoria raced to assist yet another male in his twenties at a construction site at the intersection of Andries and Bloem Street in the Pretoria C B D. Details of the accident is still speculative, however it is believed that the man was working on scaffolding when a concrete column collapsed. The man fell several meters to the ground and a concrete pillar landed on his leg.
Netcare paramedics stabilised the seriously injured man and then transported him to the Eugene Marais hospital for further treatment.
