A 38yr old man had a narrow escape after the trench he was working in collapsed onto his legs this morning.
ER24 paramedics arrived within minutes of receiving the call of the incident. They found the man just outside the trench but his legs were pinned by sand and pipes. Advanced Life Support Intervention was performed on the patient while SAPS Search and Rescue and Fire Department used specialised equipment to rescue the man’s legs from the trench. Once freed the man was transported to EThekwini Hospital in a serious but stable condition for further medical treatment.
The cause of the trench collapsing is unknown but the necessary authorities would investigate the incident
