The N1 north highway, before Allandale, has claimed two vehicles in three hours this morning.
The first incident, at around 07h30, involving a single vehicle, left 13 people injured. A bakkie allegedly lost control due to unknown reasons, and rolled. The patients sustained minor to moderate injuries, and were transported to nearby hospitals.
At around 10h30, and alleged road rage incident occurred. ER24 paramedics were surprised to arrive on scene at the exact location as the first incident, only three hours later. The driver of a Toyota Tazz explained that the driver in front of him suddenly braked harshly, causing him to collide with the barrier after having to perform evasive maneuvers. The vehicle then rolled, leaving the driver with a suspected broken collarbone and arm. He was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance.
Johannesburg Metro police were on scene to take statements, and will be investigating the cause of the two accidents.
