A six vehicle pile-up in rainy weather forced the closure of the N2 incoming this morning.
The accident, which happened just before the Vanguard Drive on-ramp during peak hour traffic, left seven people slightly injured and caused some traffic congestion.
According to traffic spokeswoman Merle Lourens, a taxi changing lanes on the N2 crashed into a car in the centre lane, causing the cascading accident across the lanes.
The road was closed for 20 minutes while rescue vehicles and tow-trucks removed the cars from the road. She said six people in the taxi and one in the first car were injured.
Meanwhile, a four-year-old girl was killed at the weekend when she was hit by a car on Koeberg Road in Brooklyn.
ER24 spokesman Derrick Banks said she had died by the time paramedics arrived. It was believed the girl was trying to cross the road when she was knocked down.
In another incident yesterday two people were seriously injured while another five suffered minor injuries in a collision involving a taxi, a car and a bakkie close to the N2.
