A forty six commuters have sustained minor injuries after the bus they were travelling in over turned on the R712 between Qwa Qwa and Harrismith near the Sterkfortein Dam in the early parts of this morning.
ER24 and EMRS arrived on the scene to find the bus lying on its side in a ditch alongside the road. The commuters were mainly found seated on the side of the road. They were all examined and found that they had suffered very minor abrasions and lacerations and were cold due to the very cold drop in temperature.
Thirty patients were taken of the forty six commuters to a nearby hospital for further medical care. While more ambulances were being dispatched to the accident scene, the remaining sixteen were undeceive at the time if they wanted to go to hospital.
It is believed that the bus that had come from Lestho and was heading towards Harrismith when it is alleged that the bus may have had some sort of mechanical problem causing the driver to lose control and crash into the ditch.
