A visitor to the Arrive Alive Website emailed photos of a fatal accident approximately 40km’s south of Bloemfontein on the N1. A body was still on the road surface covered by a blanket.
Update -Report:
A 70 year old Zimbabwean man died and 5 others were injured in a rear-end smash on the N 1 about 40 kilometres from Colesburg this morning at around 07h45. It is believed that a car smashed into the back of a slow moving bakkie with 5 occupants.
Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the 70 year old man lying on the road surface. Tragically he had died on impact due to the extensive injuries that he had sustained. The driver of the car and four others from the bakkie was fortunate to escape with only minor injuries.
Paramedics stabilised all the injured and then transported them by ambulance to an area hospital in Colesburg for the treatment they required.
