A miner was killed in a rockfall at Harmony Gold’s Phakisa mine in the Free State, the company said on Monday.
The accident occurred at approximately 7am on Saturday morning some 2100 metres below surface, it said in a statement.
“Management together with the representatives of the department of mineral resources commenced investigations into the incident.”
The company’s chief executive Graham Briggs and his management team expressed their condolences to the miner’s family. – Sapa
