A man was killed and five other people injured, four critically, when a light motor vehicle and a tractor collided on the R614 near Noodsberg this morning.
The cause of the collision remains unclear and will be the subject of an in-depth South African Police Force investigation. The common cause appears to have seen the light motor vehicle overtake another car, moving into oncoming traffic and slamming head-on into the tractor.
An occupant of the car was killed and four others were critically injured. Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the injured occupants still inside the vehicle. They were extricated before they were transported by ambulance to the Netcare Umhlanga Hospital and other medical facilities for further specialist care.
The driver of the taxi was unhurt in the smash.
