Two people died and 6 others were injured in a roll-over accident on the N 1 near the Gariep dam in the Springfontein area this morning at around 08hoo. It is purported that a Johannesburg family was travelling on the N 1 toward Cape Town when their vehicle overturned several times.
Netcare 911 paramedics and the emergency services arrived at the accident to find the vehicle and passengers scattered on the roadway. After triaging the injured they found that two people had tragically died on impact, one person was critically injured, two had sustained serious injuries while three others escaped with only minor injuries.
Medics worked fervently to stabilise the injured on scene before transporting them to the Palanomi Hospital in Bloemfontein for the care that they required.
