Ten people were injured, two seriously, when a minibus taxi and a private security vehicle collided in the intersection of Randal’s and Stanley Copley Roads in Sydenham this morning.
The cause of the collision remains unclear and will be the subject of a South African Police Force investigation. Paramedics arrived at the scene to find both vehicles stationary at opposite ends of the junction.
The injured occupants of both the taxi and the security vehicle had clambered from the respective wreckages and were found seated and lying nearby. The two security guards had sustained serious head and spinal trauma. All were treated and stabilised at the scene by medics before they were transported by ambulance to the Addington and Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital for specialist medical care.
