A surfer was wounded today at Melkbaai in the Strand. Allegedly the surfer, a male in his late teens, was surfing at the famous beach when a shark bit him on his foot. The surfer then managed to exit the water without sustaining further injury.
ER24 paramedics in the Strand were called in to assist in assessing the patient by another ambulance service. The surfer was found stable and had only sustained three deep lacerations to his foot and minor blood loss. He was then transported to hospital in a stable condition.
