A man was killed when his vehicle was struck by an articulated truck on the N2 north bound carriageway near the King Shaka International Airport late last night.
The cause of the accident remains unclear and will be the subject to of a South African Police Force investigation.
Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the light motor vehicle had caught fire after the heavy goods vehicle passed over it. The smouldering wreckage of the car was doused by eThekwini Metro Firefighters.
The driver was entrapped in the car and was burnt beyond recognition.
The truck driver sustained serious injuries and was treated and stabilised at the scene by Paramedics before he was transported to the Netcare Umhlanga Hospital for the medical care that he required.
