A construction worker died and another was seriously injured when a slab of concrete collapsed onto them in Brakpan, east of Johannesburg, on Friday, paramedics said.
The incident took place on a building site in a residential part of Brakpan, said Netcare911 spokesperson Chris Botha.
Paramedics were on the scene, attempting to stabilise the injured worker. He would then be transported to a nearby hospital.
They were also removing the body of the deceased worker from underneath the rubble, Botha said.
The cause of the collapse was unknown.
