Gas Cylinder Explodes Injuring a Family of Four

A family was seriously injured today when the gas cylinder they were cooking food on exploded. The mother, a 69 year old lady, was cooking dinner in her home in Athlone, when she noticed that the gas cylinder was leaking. She then called for her son to assist.

Somehow the leaked gas ignited allegedly casing some sort of explosion. When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene the Vincent Pallotti Life paramedic was already attending to the injured. Three people sustained minor injuries and were transported to hospital. The mother however sustained serious burns to a large percentage of her body.

Paramedics worked hard stabilizing the lady. She was then rapidly transported to hospital. The appropriate authorities will be investigating the incident.
