A family of five in the suburb of Danela, Durban, has narrowly escaped with their lives this evening, when they found themselves trapped in their burning house.
Shortly before 21:00 the family was getting ready to rest for the night when an unknown object came flying trough one of the house windows. What ensued was a deadly blaze spreading quickly throughout the residence. The family found themselves trapped between the deadly flames and a burglar proofed window.
When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene the family had just managed to kick out the burglar proofing from the window. The paramedics then helped the family to safety before treating them for smoke inhalation. The one man had also sustained minor burns to both his arms and wrists and was later transported to hospital.
As the family received treatment from the paramedics they had to observe as the flames consumed their house and personal belongings. The incident will be investigated by the appropriate authorities.
