Child Trafficking is no Accident!!

STOP_CHILD

The Arrive Alive website received an email with a serious message of concern pertaining to allegations of Child Trafficking at Zoo Lake. During this 16 Days of Activism it is especially important that we guard against the dangers of Child Traficking:

“I refer you to the article in the Killarney Rosebank Gazette about the Child trafficing attempt at the Zoo Lake.

Me and my wife (GL and Dr CW) were the witnesses to the incident. I took the attached images of the man that made the offer to the maid to buy the child that the maid was looking after from her.

Unfortunately, I did not hear him make offer directly, however, I saw herreaction to what he said as he said it and heard her shouting aggressively at the man (telling him to get away and that he is crazy) and saw her guarding the child from him from about 20 – 30m away at most. When I asked her why she was so upset (about 15 seconds later) she told me immediately that the man in these pictures had offered to buy the child from her.

It is important to note that this man stayed around the jungle gyms at the Zoo lake for approx. 2 hours on this day – a working day. I know this because I went back to check.

He was with a whole bunch of men – there is one picture of 2 of the other men that he was with, as I am sure it important to assess who he is associated with. Unfortunately I did not photograph the rest of them – there were approx. 6-8 of them sitting at an nearby table. He is aware that I took pictures / videos of him as I confronted him directly – telling him that I have his image and won’t forget his face. (Thinking that will serve as a preventative measure of sorts). The maid also made the security guard stationed at the Jungle Gyms aware of what had happened and I am sure he too can identify him, as well as the many other maids from surrounding houses that saw the incident.”

PLEASE FORWARD TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE !!!!!

[This incident has been taken up with law enforcement and is under investigation!!]

Update:

“The suspect was arrested and taken to court.

When doing the suspects profile, he mentioned that he made a joke to the lady by asking her to sell the child to him. Suspect was warned not to make jokes like that in South Africa when taking his profile.”
