A flat fire in a high rise building has claimed the life of a man believed to have been in his 30’s in the early hours of this morning. Emergency services received a call for a 4th floor flat that was burning in Worldsview road Doonside near Amanzimtoti at around 02h00 this morning.
Netcare 911 paramedics and the fire services arrived at Elgro flats within minutes of receiving the call and found the flat to be engulfed in flames. Firemen quickly dowsed the flames and after they searched the building found a man still lying in a prone position on his bed. Tragically the man had died from the extensive burns that he had sustained.
The cause of the fire will remain a subject for police and the Fire services to investigate
