Johannesburg emergency services warned people on Wednesday to be on high alert for flash floods.
“We are calling on our own motorists and pedestrians alike to help us to be our ears and eyes. In an event that they see streets that are flooded, they should please inform us,” said spokesperson Percy Morokane.
“It’s going to be raining for most part of the day and we’d like to warn motorists to be on high alert.”
He said no major accidents had been reported by 08:00.
“So far, people are heeding our calls to drive safely.”
Any floods can be reported to 10177 or 011-375-5920.
