A 24-year-old man died and three others were injured when their car collided with a lamp post in Edenvale, Gauteng police said on Friday.
The car was travelling on the R24 east at 10.30pm when it lost control after the Edenvale offramp, Inspector Mveli Nhlapo said.
One of the passengers died on impact, while the driver and two others were seriously injured.
Nhlapo said the accident was caused by speeding and it was suspected that all four men had been under the influence of alcohol.
The injured were taken to Arwyp hospital for further treatment.
Nhlapo said a case of reckless driving and negligence, as well as culpable homicide, would be opened. – Sapa
