Four dead in N18 accident in North West

Four people have died and two were injured in a head-on collision on the N18 in the North West, the department of human settlements, public safety and liaison said.

“It is alleged that a Ford Focus which was pulling a trailer and headed towards Vryburg collided head on with a Citi Golf which was driving towards Mahikeng as it overtook another vehicle on a solid white line,” said spokesman Lesiba Kgwele.

The accident occurred around 10.30am near the Kraaipan Mine about 8 kilometres from Setlagole.

Four passengers in the Golf died and two passengers were injured.

The dead included the 24-year old male driver of the Golf and a man in his sixties, as well as a woman in her twenties and a teenage boy.

Two children in the Golf between the ages of four and ten were injured and taken to the Bophelong provincial hospital.

The driver of the Ford was not injured.

Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide and reckless and negligent driving. -Sapa
