A seven year old girl is in a serious condition after been struck down by a light motor vehicle on Wendtlandt Road in Parow, Cape Town on Monday evening.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the little girl lying in the road. The light motor vehicle was just a few meters away from the scene but the driver was unharmed.
The little girl had suffered severe trauma to her foot and possible fractures to her leg. The patient had also suffered a possible head injury and advanced life support intervention had to be performed to help stabilise her further. While ER24 paramedics stabilised the patient, the ER24 Discovery Medicopter was called in to help airlift the patient through to Red Cross Children’s Hospital in a serious condition where waiting trauma staff were ready to take over the medical care.
It is believed that the little girl was walking with her mom when somehow she broke free from her mom and ran across the road without looking and into the front of the car. The driver tried to avoid the child but was unable to do so.
