25 People were injured when 4 taxis collided into each other along Umgeni road near the Goble road intersection this morning at around 07h30. Details to the cause of the accident will remain a subject for police investigation.
When Netcare 911 paramedics and the rescue unit arrived at the accident they found the twisted frames of four taxi’s obstructing the roadway. After triaging the injured it was established that 6 people had sustained serious injuries while 19 escaped with minor injuries.
While the rescue officer was freeing the patients using the Jaws of Life medics worked tirelessly to stabilise the wounded. After the commuters were stabilised on scene they were transported to the Netcare St Augustine’s and Addington hospitals for the care that they required.
