Two Ethiopian nationals have died of malaria after being admitted to an East London hospital, the Eastern Cape health department said on Friday.
Spokesman Sizwe Kupelo said the men arrived in South Africa earlier this month, and had contracted the disease elsewhere.
One man, 36-years-old, was admitted to Frere Hospital on Sunday and died on Monday. The other, 25, was admitted on Monday and died on Tuesday.
Three other Ethiopians were being treated at Frere for the same disease. They were all being visited by relatives, Kupelo said.
