A serious incident occurred this morning in the suburb of Amanda Glen in Durbanville. A large delivery truck was delivering pallets of bricks to a residential building site. The driver had parked the truck on the incline with its rear towards the t-junction.
Without warning, the truck started rolling back towards the t-junction. The driver franticly started running after the truck in an attempt to enter the cab and bring it to a stop. Unfortunately he lost his footing whilst attempting to enter the cab and the door slammed him in the face causing him to fall onto the road.
Witnesses said that the truck had gathered up some momentum and nearly collided with another vehicle parked in the road. The truck then cleared the curd and jumped into the house on the opposite side of the t-junction, destroying an entire room of the residence. Fortunately nobody was in the house at the time of the incident. There was however a dog in the yard that seemed to be shaken up by the event.
The driver was then transported to a nearby hospital. He sustained mild injuries to his face. The neighbors were assigned with the unpleasant duty of contacting the home owners to inform them if the incident.
