Two woman have sustained severe burns after there was an alleged explosion at a small restaurant in the Pretoria CBD.
It is at this stage still unclear as to the exact nature and cause of the explosion, but the two women were opening up the fast food restuarant at the corners of Proes and Beatrix streets for business this morning when all of a sudden there was a very loud explosion. Witnesses to the incident explained that the inside of the restaurant was torn apart, and the two women were actually very lucky.
ER24 paramedics treated both of the woman, who are between the ages of 30 and 40, for serious burns to their bodies and faces. They were however, in a stable condition, alert but in a severe amount of pain when they were transported to a local hospital.
Fortunately no one else was in the restaurant at the time, and no one else was injured in the incident. Investigations will need to be performed by the relevant officials into the exact cause of the explosion.
