A truck and taxi collided at the corners of Main Reef and West Lake Road, leaving the front compartment of the taxi extensively damaged.
It seems that the taxi drove onto the right side of the refrigerator truck, and the entire front cabin of the taxi was ripped apart. The driver of the taxi was deceased upon arrival of paramedics and the front passenger was in a critical condition. Despite all attempts by paramedics to stabilise her,she too succumbed to her injuries on scene and was declared deceased.
9 other men and 5 women were transported to various hospitals in the surrounding area for treatment of their minor to moderate injuries.
The two male occupants of the truck were left uninjured.
All necessary officials attended the scene.
