A serious incident occurred this morning at a concrete lintel producing plant in the vicinity of Vissershok near the N7 highway.
Two men believed to be in their late twenties were going about their morning duties by cleaning an industrial concrete mixer. The machine allegedly become functional without warning and the two men fell into the machine. Bystanders heard the men’s call for help and were able to switch off the machine and pull the one worker from the internal mixing mechanism.
When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they established that the one man had sustained fatal injuries. He was later declared dead at the scene. The surviving patient sustained severe injuries to his lower extremities and needed to be transported to a hospital rapidly.
On scene paramedics then dispatched the ER24 Discovery Medicopter to the scene to airlift the man to a nearby medical facility. The appropriate authorities will be investigating the industrial accident.
