Thirteen workers from a factory have suffered with possible smoke inhalation after the factory they work in caught alight. The incident took place at the corners of Alexander and Clarke Road in Westmead Industrial area just outside Pinetown this morning.
ER24 paramedics rushed to the scene and found the factory on fire but fortunately all the workers had evacuated the factory before emergency personnel had arrived. ER24 set up a triage area to examine all the workers to make sure they were okay. Thirteen patients were found to have suffered possible smoke inhalation and were transported to Life Westville and to Life The Crompton Hospital for further medical care.
It is unclear how the fire started but the local Fire Department were on the scene and were able to contain the fire rather quickly and would investigate the incident further.
