A man in his late thirties has been killed after allegedly being knocked down by and unknown vehicle on the N2 at the Borchards Quarry off ramp this morning.
The Cape Town Metro Emergency Services were at the scene first, and they secured the scene and started immediate treatment on the man. Shortly after that, ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene and they noticed that the man was already being resuscitated.
According to witnesses, the man had attempted to cross the in bound lane of the highway, when he was knocked by a car. The car then allegedly sped off, and paramedics confirmed that they did not see the vehicle that allegedly knocked the man, at the scene.
The man had suffered multiple traumatic injuries and efforts to improve his condition were futile. He succumbed to him injuries and was sadly declared deceased at the scene.
Traffic had been severely affect as the man lay across the middle lane of the highway. Paramedics stated that there could have been up to a 5 kilometer backlog of traffic entering the city.
Police attended the scene and will perform the necessary investigations into the incident.
