A 33 year old man is in a critical condition after sustaining severe burns.
It is believed that the man, who was working at a Timber Factory in Nelspruit, suddenly fell into a burning barrel of diesel. It is at this stage not clear as to the exact events of this horrific incident, but the man’s colleagues luckily came to his rescue.
They were able to extinguish the flames on and around the man, and through quick thinking, they immediately loaded him into a work bakkie, called ER24 for an ambulance and without hesitation said that they would meet them en route to the hospital. The ambulance met them and took over treatment of the severely injured man. He was alert at this stage, but in an extreme amount of pain. They immediately placed Burnshield on the man’s wounds and gave him something for his pain. They quickly transported him to the Nelspruit Medi Clinic for further treatment where he wad handed over to the hospital staff in a critical condition.
The incident details will need to be investigated by the factory’s officials.
