A large quantity of dagga was found at an accident scene at Laingsburg, Western Cape police said on Wednesday.
Three men – aged 27, 29 and 31 – had been driving in a rented VW Polo, on Tuesday when a tyre burst on the N1 and the car left the road, said Warrant Officer Lindikhaya Mkhontwana.
Police arrived at the scene and searching the vehicle found 12 black bags of compressed dagga with an estimated street value of R180 000.
One of the men was also found in possession of two identity documents, with differing ID numbers.
The men were arrested and police confiscated the dagga and vehicle.
They are due to appear in court on Wednesday in connection with charges of dealing in dagga and fraud. – Sapa
