Two taxi accidents in Limpopo have left 20 people injured.
The first accident, on the R71 Tsaneen road, involved a taxi colliding into the back of a Truck. The truck allegedly pulled into the road and the taxi crashed with a severe amount of force into the back of it. ER24 paramedics at the scene described the truck as being a cattle transporter, and that there was fortunately no animals being transported at the time.
The driver of the taxi was left with minor injuries, while the two occupants sitting next to him in the front of the taxi were left with critical injuries. A woman, who is believed to be 5 months pregnant, suffered a possible serious break to her hips. The man was treated for extensive injury to his lower limbs.
The other 8 patients, who occupied who occupied the rear seats of the taxi suffered multiple injuries ranging from minor to moderate. All of the patients were taken to Mankweng Hospital for further treatment.
The second accident, which happened within an hour of the first, was on the R81 Duiwelskloof road. A taxi transporting 8 people, crashed head on into a Toyota Yaris. The occupant of the Yaris was left with serious injuries while the 8 occupants of the taxi suffered minor injuries. All of the 9 injured were taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
