Man Presumed Drowned in George

A family outing has turned into a tragic event after a 35 year old man went missing while he was swimming in the Garden Route Dam in George.

ER24 paramedics were called to the scene where police and family members were at the dam. The local water rescue team had begun a search of the water with boats, but the man could not be located. Police Rescue Divers were dispatched to the scene to look for the man beneath the water surface.

It is believed that the man and his family had gone to the Dam on an outing, and a large group entered the water to go an swim. Some time later, every one had exited the water except for the 35 year old man, and he could not be seen. There is at this stage no clear understanding as to why the man did not return from the water, and the police would need to conduct a thorough investigation in the event.

A trauma counselor was called to the scene to provide their service to the distraught family members.
