A serious accident occurred yesterday afternoon on the N14 10 km outside of Kuruman in the direction of Katu.
We believe that a double cab bakkie and a VW Polo collided head on, but are at this stage not clear as to what the cause of this accident is.
Three occupants of the polo had sustained fatal injuries and were declared deceased on the scene. The fourth occupant of the vehicle was left with critical injuries and needed immediate Advanced Life Support treatment. A passenger in the bakkie was left with serious injuries, and he was trapped inside the wreckage. The Fire and Rescue Services needed to cut the man out of the vehicle using the Jaws of Life. The other three men in the bakkie were able to climb out of the wreckage themselves and were treated on scene for the minor injuries that they had sustained.
The police attended the scene and would conduct the necessary investigations.
