Bus company SA Roadlink is due to meet with Western Cape traffic bosses on Wednesday to discuss the recent impounding of one of its fleet.
Officers declared the bus unroadworthy after it was inspected at a roadblock on the N2, near George, earlier this week.
The Community Safety Department’s Melany Kuhn said the Cape Town-bound bus was transporting more than 40 passengers.
Officials recorded a number of faults, including defective brakes and damaged tail-lights.
“The bus is still in George and it will only move on condition that a breakdown service removes it,” said Kuhn.
SA Roadlinks’ chief operations officer, Joe Mushwana, on Tuesday told Eyewitness News he is flying to Cape Town to meet with provincial traffic chief Kenny Africa.
Meanwhile, Transport MEC Robin Carlisle has indicated he is concerned that SA Roadlink is not spending enough to ensure its buses are safe.
