Tragic news from the road this evening after a steel gate at a residence in East Cliffe south of Johannesburg fell on top of a seven year old boy while he was trying to open the gate to allowing people in to the yard.
As per the family, they heard a loud crash while they were inside the house. They ran outside and found the gate had fallen on top of the little boy who was not moving. They quickly lifted the gate and dragged him to safety.
The little boy was unresponsive and ER24 paramedics were called to the scene. The patient was quickly assessed and found that he had suffered a massive head injury and was not breathing. Advanced life support intervention had to be performed on the patient. The child was intubated and placed on a ventilator while emergency personnel did CPR.
The emergency personnel that were on the scene tried so hard to try and save the little boys life but unfortunately after a long battle the little boy past away on the scene due to the injuries that he had sustained from the gate. The mother was completely devastated over the loss of her child and would seek further medical help if needed.
It is unclear exactly what happen but is believed that the little boy may have pushed the gate to far open, causing the gate to come a drift and land on top of him. The necessary authorities were called to the scene and would investigate the incident further.
