Sixteen people sustained injuries this afternoon when the bakkie they were traveling on overturned on the N3 highway approximately 10 kilometers outside Warden in the Free State.
It is unclear as to how the collision occurred, but it seems the driver of the bakkie had allegedly lost control of the vehicle before it overturned multiple times. When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found the patients all over the road. Five patients of which two were children sustained severe injuries and needed to be transported to hospital rapidly.
The injuries sustained varied from multiple scrapes and bruises to patients who needed to be fully immobilized to special equipment for spinal precautions.
The sixteen patients were transported to various hospitals in the area by ER24 ambulances as well as local provincial ambulances.
