Military analyst Henri Boshoff died in a car crash on Monday, SABC news reported.
Boshoff was an expert in the field of peace missions in Africa and was frequently used as an analyst by the media and government.
At the time of his death he was working for the Institute for Security Studies (ISS).
ISS director Jakkie Cilliers said Boshoff’s expertise and influence would be sorely missed.
Boshoff leaves behind a wife, Leonie, and son Jean. He was 54 years old.
Boshoff, who was born in Pretoria, joined the SA Defence Force in 1986 and was involved with the operational planning of internal and external operations.
His area of expertise was terrorism, peacekeeping, support to the police and African politics.
He joined the ISS in 2001. – Sapa
