Pedestrian Airlifted After Road Accident

A 23 year old man was knocked by a vehicle on Kingsway Road in Benoni this morning near the Putfontein Road.

ER24 paramedics from the Benoni Base rushed to the scene accompanied by the Glynnwood Life paramedics. On arrival, they found a young man lying in the road, and he was in a critical condition. Although we don’t know why the man was in the road as the vehicle was driving along it, the Kia Picanto crashed into the man casing him very severe injuries.

The front drivers side windscreen was crushed in from the impact of the man against it. The young man needed immediate Advanced Life Support treatment, and ER24 paramedics determined the need for the patient to get to hospital as soon as possible. As morning traffic would cause a delay in transport of the man by ambulance, they notified the Medicopter and the man was airlifted from the scene to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital in Johannesburg where he was handed over in a critical condition.

The driver of the Kia was shaken but luckily not injured in the accident.
