A man to be in his early thirties was knocked down on the N3 Durban bound between Richmond Road and the M7 off ramp from the busy freeway by a light motor vehicle that was travelling along in the right hand lane this morning.
ER24 paramedics from Pinetown rushed to the scene and found the man lying in the road in a pool of blood. The light motor vehicle was found just a few meters away in the same lane. Paramedics assessed the patient but unfortunately the patient had already succumbed to his fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene.
The driver of the light motor vehicle had not sustained any injuries that paramedics could see but the driver said he would go and see his doctor later if he needed further medical care.
It is believed that the pedestrian who is well known homeless man who often walks along the busy freeway every day somehow did not see the car approaching when he was alleging trying to cross the road. The impact catapulted the patient into the air and landing on to the hard tar below.
The necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the incident further.
