A truck has collided head on with a Venture on the Edendale Road near Taylors Halt.
ER24 paramedics at the scene explained that the truck may have been driving on the wrong side of the road for some reason when the head on collision occurred. The Venture’s front end was completely destroyed to a point where the different aspects of the engine block could not be identified.
The two occupants of the venture sustained critical injuries. Paramedics found them both outside of the vehicle, having been pulled out by members of the community and covered with blankets to keep them warm from the chilly mountain air this evening. The driver had sustained more extensive injury than his passenger and he needed immediate life saving treatment. The passenger was alert and had sustained lower limb injuries as well as chest injuries.
Both men were taken to hospital for further treatment.
The occupants of the truck are believed to have absconded from the scene of the accident.
The police will be investigating.
