A worker sustained injuries this evening after a release valve exploded at a factory in Kuilsriver.
A group of three workers were attempting to release the pressure of a system allegedly carrying hot resin, by opening a release valve. It is unclear what happened next, but somehow the release valve exploded.
When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found the three men at the scene. Two of the workers sustained no injuries and opted not to go to hospital or receive any medical care. The one worker, a man aged 35, sustained a possible injury in the form of barotrauma as well as gas inhalation. He was treated at the scene before being transported to a nearby medical facility.
Local fire and rescue services were at the scene to secure the area and to ensure the safety of all attending rescue workers.
