Two drown after boat capsizes at Knysna

A tragic boating incident in Knysna has left two men dead and four others with injuries.

The incident occurred at the well known Knysna Heads as the fishing boat was entering the lagoon. Rough water allegedly caused the boat to capsize leaving the six men overboard. Rescuers from the local NSRI station rushed to the aid of the man as two boats were dispatched to the capsized vessel.

Two of the men pulled from the water were found to be not breathing and had no pulse. NSRI rescue workers immediately started with CPR whilst transporting the injured men back to dry land. On shore ER24 paramedics took over the resuscitation efforts from the NSRI.

Paramedics continued resuscitation efforts on the two men for some time, but to no avail as the men were later declared dead at the scene. The four survivors of this tragic incident were treated at the scene before being transported to hospital by another ambulance service.
