A fifteen-year-old boy is in a critical condition in a Klerksdorp Hospital after a rugby injury in Sannieshof, near Orkney in the North West Province.
The cause of the incident and series of events leading up to it remain unclear.
All indications are that the boy, from Orkney, had been playing rugby at a school in Sannieshof and had been injured when a scrum collapsed. When all the other forwards rose from the collapsed scrum the teen stayed down and was unable to move.
Netcare911 Paramedics transferred the boy from a hospital in Sannieshof to a private medical facility in Klerksdorp for further care.
