A woman was killed when her motorcyclist collided with a car in the intersection of Ruimte and Willem Botha Avenues in Pretoria in the early hours of this morning.
The cause of the accident and series of events leading up to it remain unclear and will form the subject of a South African Police Force investigation.
An off-duty paramedic was in the car what was struck in the junction. He alighted from the vehicle and rushed to her aid. The force of impact had thrown her from the bike and she was found lying near the mangled wreckage.
She had sustained multi-system traumatic injuries and her condition deteriorated drastically. Unfortunately she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The paramedic and his passenger were uninjured in the smash.
